For those who desire to explore the stunning beauty of Fiji’s 300 plus islands, the journey has become a bit easier and potentially more affordable. Beginning on March 3, Fiji Airways will introduce a new “unbundled” airfare program, known as “Fly Your Way.”
This new program offers different fare tiers including Lite, Value, Comfort, and Plus. Each tier offers a range of options, such as Lite, which only includes one carry-on bag, while Plus includes two checked bags, priority boarding, and baggage.
This “unbundling” concept is similar to what many domestic airlines in the United States offer under the name of “Basic Economy.”
“Our customers have different needs when they travel, whether for business or leisure, and with this new concept, we give them the flexibility to choose the product that suits them best,” said Andre Viljoen, Fiji Airways’ Managing Director and CEO, in a statement.
At present, Fiji Airways is advertising round-trip flights from Los Angeles to Fiji for $899. Recently, Fiji’s tourism board announced the removal of all COVID-19 restrictions. Travelers arriving from the United States are no longer obligated to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or travel insurance.
Fiji has already seen a surge in visitors in 2023. The tourism department reported an 11% increase in North American travelers in January, and the average room rate for the month was $481. In 2019, the country welcomed over 894,389 travelers, according to the government of Fiji.
