Over 650K tourists visit Aurora in first half of 2022

Tourism in Aurora, a great destination in the Philippines has augmented in recent times as the city receives over thousands of visitors.

Aurora is one of the busiest tourist destinations in the world. It brags of thousands and thousands of visitors all year round. People from Africa, Europe, Asia, Americas, Australia and different islands come there annually. These people visit Aurora for different reasons. Others come to visit their loved ones during holidays and others visit as genuine tourists who want to move away from their stress centered work environment.

Aurora assures its tourists of a serene environment, better customer service and value for money. It is very flabbergasting that, the number of tourists who visited Aurora for just the first half of 2022 was more than sixty-five thousand (650K).

Statistics from the Aurora Tourism Office proved that a total of 653,054 tourists visited the province from January to June only. This is an indication that, the province’s tourism industry is on its way to recovery from the impact of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

When authorities look back at the recession that hit Aurora tourism industry, they only have one choice now. And this choice is to increase the number of people who visit the tourism site beyond what the pandemic took from them.

The tourist destinations with the most visitors in the province are the towns of Dipaculao, Baler, Dingalan, and Maria Aurora. The report on these tourist destinations in Aurora was based on the statistics supplied by the municipal tourism offices of the province’s eight towns. These towns are; Baler, Casiguran, Dilasag, Dinalungan, Dingalan, Dipaculao, Maria Aurora, and San Luis.

The Supervising Tourism Operations Officer, Chriselle May Yambao enumerated on Thursday stated that the Department of Tourism in Central Luzon (DOT-3) is also rebranding Aurora. The rebranding will include dive, surfing, trekking and wellness sites to attract more tourists. These new sites to be added will provide tourists with diverse fun-based experiences to choose from.

The officer continued by saying that, the rebranding will provide tourists with unique products. There will be also be the paring of activities and not there won’t be any instance where an activity would be carried out single handedly. Aurora can also boast of very rich natural resources with its mountains and seas. All these natural resources provide the needed environment for tourists and also serve as a basis of revenue to those in the Aurora enclave.

She also explained that, among the selected dive sites in the district for freediving are the Barangay Dibutunan Marine Protected Area (MPA), Digisit MPA and Dicasalarin. Other diving sites will also be opened as soon as the local government unit (LGU) guidelines are set. Yambao further stressed that, locals will also be trained and certified as freediving guides to ensure the safety of divers who come to visit the district.

With regards to wellness activities, she explained that, Aurora is an ideal place for meditation and all yoga practices. This is because, the province has beautiful natural scenery which makes physical education much enjoyable. She ended by saying that, they are hoping that, there would be alternative activities in Aurora, apart from surfing which the province is known for.
